T-Team in dilemma as T’gganu threatens to seize funding
KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu state government may stop supporting T-Team financially if the team failed to meet the criteria in management, coaching, discipline of players and other aspects.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the team under the state government’s purview can say ‘good bye’ if they (team) failed to fulfil the terms and conditions proposed.
“We have not made any decision yet to disband the team next season. We have to look at the issue from a holistic point before a drastic decision is made,” he told reporters here yesterday when asked to comment on calls from T-Team fans to change his decision to disband the team after a poor outing in the Malaysia Cup competition.
Ahmad said he had met the T-Team management and players to find an amicable solution to stop the rot.
“They must be committed, determined to succeed, disciplined and have a high level of integrity to achieve success.
“There must be drastic changes,” he said.
Irked by the poor results which saw T-Team bundled out of the Malaysia Cup competition in the preliminary stages, Ahmad announced that the T-Team would be disbanded.
“When we (government) make an investment, there must be good returns.
“If players from the state lack integrity and discipline I don’t think it is wrong to recruit players from other states,” he said.
He added that players must realise that playing football is their profession and they should showcase a high level of discipline and commitment. — Bernama
